An Invitation to a Memorable Golf Experience You’ll Share for Years to Come

If you’ve been on golf trips with a group of friends, or you’re thinking about joining in one of these adventures, you know that many of the “regular” destinations advertise plenty of courses … many of them, unfortunately, flattish, uninspired layouts dotted with artificial mounds, palm trees, and ball-swallowing water.

Are you ready for something very different? For golf in a strikingly beautiful natural setting where the air is crisp and the sound of a well-struck metalwood echoes through an amphitheatre of pine, oak, and maple?

The objective of a golf outing is not to cram as many obscure holes of golf as you can from sunup to sundown. The objective is to pack as much enjoyable golf and fellowship as possible in your time away from the office … and to do that you want to play hole after challenging hole.

The Black Forest / Wilderness Valley resort near Gaylord in north Central Michigan features two 18-hole courses with contrasting styles that will test every aspect of your game … and yield shot after shot of memories for you and your buddies to brag on or laugh about whenever you get together.

You’ll Play Two Distinct Courses: A Classic and a Modern Classic

Some of our guests like to tackle the tougher Black Forest course in the morning, marveling at the sweeping curved tracks the ball will make on the dew-covered greens. Then in the afternoon they’ll roll over to Wilderness Valley for a scramble format and birdies aplenty.

Other golfers opt for using Wilderness Valley as a first-round warm-up, especially if their game’s a bit rusty or needs adjustment before facing Tom Doak’s stern Black Forest examination.

Both golf courses are in outstanding condition. Under the management of the Osprey Recreational Properties since 2003, Black Forest and Wilderness Valley have been restored to their original manicured beauty, earning a Golf Digest four-star rating.

And tee time intervals are 10 minutes (not 7 or 8 minutes as at many courses), so you won’t feel rushed through your round.

Dine on Chef Stuewer’s Americana Cuisine

How about a succulent Rib Eye steak to go with those 36 holes? Or in-season fresh fish from the Great Lakes? Master Chef Don Stuewer, formerly of the London Chop House, one of Detroit’s most famous dining establishments, directs the new Osprey Grille at Black Forest / Wilderness Valley.

You can dine in the remodeled clubhouse or out on the new double-decker patio. Both offer gorgeous views of the Wilderness Valley layout.
